Basic Circulatory Testing and Consultation

By COFAI • January 13, 2025 • Comments Off on Basic Circulatory Testing and Consultation

The Caribbean Foot and Ankle Institute (COFAI) offers Basic Circulatory Testing, a vital service for evaluating blood flow in the feet, particularly for diabetic patients. Proper circulation is essential for wound healing, nerve health, and overall foot function. This service, combined with a professional consultation, helps identify and address circulatory issues early, preventing complications such as ulcers, infections, and amputations.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Your visit begins with a comprehensive consultation where our specialists review your medical history and assess any symptoms related to poor circulation, such as cold feet, discoloration, or delayed wound healing. A physical examination is then conducted to evaluate the condition of your feet and identify signs of circulatory insufficiency.

For the circulatory testing itself, non-invasive tools such as a Doppler ultrasound are used to measure blood flow and identify blockages or reduced circulation in the arteries of the feet and lower limbs. Blood pressure readings at various points on the legs may also be taken to assess overall vascular health.

Following the evaluation, our team provides a detailed explanation of the results and creates a tailored treatment plan. This may include lifestyle modifications, medication, compression therapy, or referral to a vascular specialist for more advanced care if necessary. Education on managing diabetes to promote better circulation is also a key component of the consultation.

At COFAI, we are committed to ensuring optimal foot health and preventing complications through early detection and proactive care.

This patient had been struggling with persistent foot pain 🦶🏽, and despite previous evaluations, the cause was still undetermined. However, when she came to us, signs of blood pooling below her foot and x-ray results 🩻 pointed to a Lisfranc injury. Watch as we uncover the true cause of her pain and treat it with internal fixation using plates and screws🔩, getting her back on the path to healing💪🏽. #foot #injury #fracture #pain #lisfrancinjury #surgery #fyp #trini_tiktoks
